"It is not the diamonds or the birds, the people or the potatoes; it is not any of the nouns. The miracle is the adverbs, the way things are done. It is the way love gets done despite every catastrophe."

Devereau as Naomi in the 25th Anniversary Production of Shelly Garrett's Beauty shop by Ryan Nance

Dear Friends and Family,

Guess what! I am starring in the theatre production of Shelly Garrett’s Beauty Shop, the 25th Anniversary

No secret is safe from salon owner Margaret and her outlandish hairstylists in this production of Shelly Garrett's rollicking comedy. Margaret may be plus-sized, but she's got a firecracker attitude, sexy smarts, and she runs her salon like gossip central.

I am honored to grace the stage as Mrs. Naomi Bell, a young distraught wife looking to find the woman who has been sleeping with her husband. There's lots of drama and fun, and without a doubt, there is a laugh-a-minute in this show.

The play is one-night only at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Friday, October 24th at 8pm and I need your support. Please visit www.beautyshopplay.com today and purchase tickets. This play will be sold out and I want you to get a good seat so you can see ME! I also need your help in spreading the word. You can do that by send this post to your friends.

I’m so proud to be a part of this historical play and hey if enough people turn out, who knows, we just might hit the road.

Let me know if you will be there so I can look for you.

Love, Peace and Hair Grease,

Devereau

First Weekend of Lovecraft and Review on Arts Beat LA by Devereau Chumrau

We opened the remount of LOVECRAFT: Nightmare Suite this past weekend.

It was such a joy to step back onto stage with my castmates.

And of course I am thrilled to be reviewed so kindly after the opening weekend by Pauline Adamek at ArtsBeatLA.

Devereau Chumrau is a standout, narrating the second tale—The Cats of Ulthar—with relish while adopting smooth and expressive delivery.

The show runs through March 2, so if you haven't come to still it, there is still time.

I'm excited to write to you guys about the opening my new show, the remount of Lovecraft: Nightmare Suite. We had a very successful run the first time around (LA WeeklyLAist for example) that we were asked to bring it back! So for those of you who missed it the first time, here's your chance.

I am excited to work with my grad school classmate, Angela Sauer, with Frank Blocker, who starred with me in the Mystery Plays, as well as Andrew Fromer, all joining the cast this time around. And as always it is such a joy to work with Dan Spurgeon, Daniel Jimenez, Anna Safar, Mark Souza and Steve Peterson.

In other news, I've started guest posting on Ryan Nance's blog, 5 things I learned today. As most of you know, I've been getting into yoga more and more recently, so I was thrilled to pick this amazing set of images documenting the history of yoga, and then a fun collection of kids styled to resemble Golden Globe red carpet celebrities. Check them out, and look out for more.
